Abstract
The objectives of this study were to create the database for self-learning in the knowledge related to the polymer packaging for food, and to evaluate the qualities and satisfaction of the users. The information and details on polymer types and packaging types were searched to show in the database which was design using the program of MySQL, phpMyAdmin, AppServ, Apache 2.2. The qualities of database were evaluated by 3 experts in packaging and 3 experts in database using questionnaire of 5-rating scale. The samples of user consisted of 40 undergraduate students in related field, selected by simple random sampling to evaluate the satisfaction in database. The results showed that the qualities of content, illustration, and text design were good because the average scale evaluated by the experts in packaging and database were 4.00, 4.33, 4.38, respectively. The qualities of database design and website presentation were very good because the average scale evaluated by the experts in database were 4.72 and 4.59 respectively. The average scale of satisfaction was 4.39, indicating that the database highly satisfy the users. Therefore, the database can be applied for education and dissemination to the public for self-learning in polymer for food packaging.
