Abstract :
This paper presents a new and programmable VLSI coprocessor referred to as the fuzzy-digital signal processor (FDSP) and its software support application development system (FDSP IDE). The FDSP offers economic solution to implement adaptive fuzzy, digital signal processing systems. The FDSP acts as an internal, programmable coprocessor to 8-16 bit microcontrollers (MCs). This system allows one to build advanced economic adaptive filters, estimators, channel equalisers, and control systems to support high resolution real-time applications in such systems as hard disk drive controllers, imaging filters and multimedia processing
