Abstract :
The IEEE 802.3 standard for 100BASE-T introduces a new interface between the media access control and physical layers. This interface is referred to as the media independent interface (MII). The paper describes the concepts and operating principles of the MII. Guidelines are also provided to aid designers in the use of this new interface standard
