Abstract :
Health management (HM) capabilities are becoming increasingly critical to the overall system performance and life cycle affordability of aerospace platforms. HM applications that can reliably detect, accurately isolate, and optimally report failures to both system operators and support personnel have remained elusive targets. With the advent of condition based maintenance (CBM), these traditional HM challenges have been extended to include the ability to predict the onset of failures, making HM among the most complex and data intensive aspects of product development. This paper will introduce work being performed to develop an Enterprise application Integration framework that supports the interchange of information between the tools and applications required to develop health management solutions. It is part of a larger effort at The Boeing Company to involve industry in an open development and demonstration platform for health management solutions. The development of this framework promises to improve the consistency and efficiency with which HM applications are defined, built, tested, and matured throughout the product life cycle.
