Abstract :
This contribution presents a architecture model for integrating flexible and adaptable radio interface features into a 3rd generation terminal and system. This model is based on describing the exchangeable features as functional entities with their corresponding interactions rather than using a layer structure such as the OSI model but aiming on supporting any transmission scheme, user defined as well as standardised 3rd and 2nd generation systems. The main issues related to flexible and dynamic use of radio resources are addressed in particular for the physical layer
