A software package for filter design, the codegeneration for an implementation on a digital signal processing (DSP) chip, and the measurement of the resulting real filter are discussed. Under educational aspects different alternatives are shown for realizing finite impulse response (FIR) and infinite impulse response (IIR) filters on fixed point devices
