Abstract :
The key requirements constraining the solutions were described. One constraint on the cooling design for most projection display products was cost. This, almost immediately, pointed to an air-cooled solution using conventional fans and heat sinks. Another constraint with a more direct customer impact that couples in with the air-cooled approach was audible noise. A third constraint was that the cooling design for projection displays must accommodate a variety of different types of components. As evident from these design constraints, the cooling solutions for projection displays was confined to conventional air-cooling approaches. The challenge was using the conventional techniques to achieve an efficient design that met all the requirements for the product.
