Abstract
We present an analysis of the relationship between the two link-level QoS (quality of service) parameters (delay and error rate) and the motion speed of a user in a wireless packet network environment. The analysis is based on: (1) a wireless channel simulation using a time-correlated Rayleigh fading model and (2) a physical layer model which complies with the wireless LAN draft standard, IEEE 802.11. The analysis on delay and error rate QoS parameters is targeted to two major types of network applications: (1) real-time applications which are sensitive to delay but can tolerate a small amount of data loss and (2) conventional data transfer applications which are sensitive to data loss but normally do not require specific delay bounds
