Abstract
We investigate radio control unit (RCU) and access switch resource allocation in a wireless ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) access network. Since user mobility is an important factor in wireless ATM networks, we propose a framework that allows the examination of user mobility impact on cell-level quality of service (QoS) and resource allocation in conjunction with mobility management functions including handoffs and call-level functions. The proposed analysis may be employed in a network design tool for studying the admission control policy and selecting system parameters to satisfy desired cell-level QoS
