  • Abstract
In general, the necessary requirements for implementing a network management system are considered as network management protocols, object-oriented information modeling, management functions/services, and a graphical user interface (GUI) in a distributed environment. JavaTM is designed to meet the challenges of application development in the context of heterogeneous, network-wide distributed environments and provides the capabilities of simplicity, object-oriented concept, reliability, portability, multi-threading, and viewer capability. Thus, it is proper to make the development environment using Java for network management system. Especially, the “translation of GDMO/ASN.1 to Java objects” mechanism is designed and implemented for the information model of the TMN. It is used as a core facility to produce the Java objects which represent managed objects
