Abstract
Early development and adoption of the ATM standards and specifications presented many technical challenges. The designers encountered new ATM standards and incomplete product requirements. This paper describes the engineering development experience with the 25 Mbps ATM network interface card (NIC) and focuses on the design objectives, design approaches and many of the issues that were encountered during the course of hardware development
