Abstract
ATM 155 Mbit adapters for the workstation market are available for various buses and operating systems. Many lessons have been learned on how to improve an adapter´s performance in workstation and PC server applications as well as decreasing the cost of the adapter. The paper outlines many of the implementation challenges that have been met over the last couple of years and also touch on the future challenges associated with networking at 155 Mbits. These challenges can be classified into two areas: performance challenges, price and integration challenges
