Abstract
Remote visual inspection (RVI) is the science whereby hard to get at internal areas are accessed and inspected via the use of an extendable remote image gathering device. The generic term for this type of inspection tool is the “boroscope”. Borescopes accomplish critical visual inspections in turbine engines, power plants, chemical processing facilities, foundries, casting plants, research and development laboratories, manufacturing plants and the like to see inside things for purposes of quality control, maintenance, and finished product evaluation
