Abstract :
In the design of ultrasound therapy transducers it is important lo obtain the biggest ultrasound output power possible, but other consideration must be taken inlo account. In the classical design a U2 front plate is used to protect the piezoceramic from the external environment and it is usually made of aluminum Nevertheless, this resonance system has bigger acoustical impedance than in the soft biological tissue (water load) and consequentIy the bandwidth is quite narrow. Therefore, investigations most look toward a design that increases this parameter. This papcr presents a new approach Cor ultrasound therapy transducer design that employs pierocomposite materials preferably in low intensity ultrasound appIications as in the stimulation of bone repairing.
