Abstract :
When the United States Marine Corps decided to upgrade their virtual instrument portable equipment repair/test (VIPER/T) system (formerly called TETS) they also decided to add more features. Consequently, they levied requirements for an enhanced RF measurement capability. DME Corporation chose to use a synthetic instrument approach. This means just enough hardware was installed to capture the RF signals and the bulk of the features were implemented with software. This paper presents an overview of the synthetic instrumentation solution for the RF measurement system of the VIPER/T.
