Abstract :
In this paper, a new binary multilevel voltage source inverter (BMVSI) configuration for the reactive power compensation in a power system has been proposed and evaluated through transient simulation studies. The proposed inverter uses less number of components, and it is modular in structure. The BMVSI scheme with 3 levels offers the benefits and capabilities of the conventional 7 level separate DC source VSI schemes
