Abstract
The article discusses the application of virtual reality as part of a NASA virtual exploration project. The project, funded by NASA headquarters, has a 3 year window with a beta CD-ROM release slated for December 1995. The objective of the CD-ROM is to teach 4th to 6th grade students about virtual exploration in the context of a visit to Mars. The project uses both commercial and NASA designed software and requires a Power Macintosh or equivalent in the classroom
