Abstract
This paper proposes a new safe-commutation technique for control rectifier operation using single-phase matrix converter. The aim of this paper is to develop a new safe-commutation technique for single-phase matrix converter in order to eliminate voltage spike due to an inductive load. The proposed strategy was developed by consider the switches turn on time (ton) including the rise time (tr) and the fall time (tf) of the actual switches to allows dead time in order to release the energy of the inductor during off time period. A computer simulation model was developed and selected results are presented to investigate and verify the proposed technique using MATLAB/Simulink (MLS).
