Abstract :
The adaptive control system for power factor compensation is proposed in this paper. It enables the active filter or hybrid SVC to reach desired current for various load changes in a very short time. Responses of the adaptive control system, for typical changes in load, are simulated and obtained results analyzed. The simulation results show that the proposed system responds quickly and accurately, and can be efficiently used for reactive power compensation and higher harmonics suppression. The proposed algorithm is computationally attractive and the control system is suitable for low cost microprocessor implementation
