Abstract
In certain applications it is desirable to convert the utility AC voltage to a DC voltage in such a way as to present a unity power factor load. A common means of doing this is a circuit consisting of a bridge rectifier followed by a boost converter. Various control schemes for this boost converter are discussed, including their tradeoffs as to power factor, output voltage transient regulation, and cost of implementation. A nonlinear regulation-band circuit that has a favorable combination of properties is presented
