Abstract :
New compact conformal antennas with modified ground plane operating at 434 MHz have been investigated for hyperthermia treatment in veterinary patients. The antennas are designed to be mounted on the surface of an animal´s skin. Using flexible silicone layers and thin substrates helps them to easily conform to curved body surfaces. The slotted ground plane improves the uniformity of the field distribution; patches are placed in the slot to enhance the power concentration on the superficial cancerous tissue region. The designed antennas show more energy focusing in the tissue.
