Abstract :
An attempt is made to determine the “best” modulation scheme for land mobile radio systems. This is done by optimizing spectrum efficiency which considers carried traffic, bandwidth and cluster size. The result shows that 4-PSK, 8 and 16-QAM exhibit similar performance in an uncoded system. Considering that it is desirable to use a constant envelope, 4-PSK appears to be the winner
