Abstract
The authors have developed a wideband CDMA (W-CDMA) experimental system as a step toward the deployment of a third generation mobile communications system. The purpose of the system development is to evaluate the performance of the system as a total mobile communications system. This paper provides an overview of the experimental system, highlights some of the key technologies applied in the system-air interface layers 1, 2, and 3, ATM transmission, and packet transmission-and presents some results obtained from our characteristic estimation
