Abstract :
We propose an adaptive antenna array for GSM/UMTS systems. To improve the channel estimation operation at the receiver and to increase the convergence speed of the LMS and RLS algorithms we perform an initial channel estimate by using the modified autocorrelation and crosscorrelation functions of the received baseband training sequences. For real time reception of the GSM signals the effects of this technique on the overall BER performance are investigated. Co-channel interference (CCI) and intersymbol interference (ISI) are jointly reduced by optimizing the receiver parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed approach leads to good performance of the system even at low carrier-to-interference ratio
