Abstract :
A strategy for the implementation of space vector PWM in a 3-level inverter for variable frequency applications is explained in this paper. The strategy uses the nearest three vector (NTV) method and considers the switching frequency limitations of GTO thyristors used in high power inverters. Typical waveforms and harmonic analysis of the output voltage waveforms for various carrier ratios and modulation depths are presented. This scheme is to be implemented in a 4500 V DC, 3000 kVA inverter being developed
