Abstract
Cellular networks are evolving towards soft capacity limited systems. Such networks need efficient call admission control (CAC) policies, that do not block too many calls, but still ensure that the quality of on-going calls is preserved. Several CAC policies are presented, and their performance, in terms of new call blocking probability, is evaluated both in uniform and non-uniform traffic scenarios. It is shown that a partially loaded TDMA system can easily accommodate heterogeneous traffic, through the use of an underlying distributed CAC policy
