Abstract :
A slotted ALOHA mobile packet communication system utilizing the multiuser detection (MD) is proposed for system capacity enhancement. MD can be easily implemented by using an adaptive interference canceller. Employment of MD enables simultaneous detection of several packets in a collision, which results in system enhancement for increasing the throughput and shortening the average delay time. Detailed theoretical analysis and computer simulation for two multiuser detection in a single cell environment shows: (i) the throughput increases twice as much as that of the conventional one, and (ii) the average delay time becomes half
