Abstract :
This paper considers the channel assignment problem for multi-rate cellular networks. Two dynamic channel assignment algorithms “simple” and “remax” are extended from single rate cellular networks. A DCA algorithm “maxavail” is generalized using a weighted channel availability function. The possibility for using channel reservation to reduce the blocking probability of prioritized calls is studied. Simulation results are obtained for both homogeneous and inhomogeneous systems
