  • Abstract
The implementation of energy-saving dispatch represents a significant change from the current economic dispatch and will impose some challenges for the secure operation of power systems concerned such as automatic generation control (AGC). In this work, the impacts of energy-saving generation dispatching on power system security especially on the operation performance and control strategies of AGC units will be clarified first. Then, the problem of AGC control strategies in the energy-saving dispatching environment is investigated. A mathematical model for the AGC units´ selection in the energy-saving dispatching environment is developed as a constrained integer nonlinear programming (INLP) with the minimization of fuel consumption and emission as the dual objectives. This optimization problem is solved by employing the well-developed branch and bound algorithm embedded in the famous software package LINGO (Linearnteractive and General Optimizer). Simulation results are served for demonstrating the feasibility and efficiency of the developed model and method.
