    The high-precision positioning of obvious target for the image edge, we usually use line diffusion function model, when we generally use normal function, in this paper, we use simple arc tangent function instead of normal function for positioning the image edge, the mathematical model of this method is simple and has fast calculation, getting the gray value of the phase as observations for adjustment calculation directly, to obtain high precision positioning of the edge and to achieve the purpose of positioning. By comparing the computing precision and computing time of two functions shows that arc tangent function can be used boundary location.
