Abstract :
This paper shows us the concept of remodeling traditional Yaodong housing in frigid climate of Loess plateau, and the low-carbonlife design through study and practice on a common housing project in Yan´an has proved that designers should pay attention to the regional characteristics in both function and space. To achieve the goal of creating high comfort with low-carbon, economic efficiency with fewer earthworks, designers should also aim at incorporating the specific local climate with architectural adaptability by combining the domestic low-cost technology with active design optimization.
