Abstract
We address the problem of robustness of linear MIMO receivers in the presence of detrimental effects such as correlation and Rician components. We derive a scheme allowing a approximate closed-form solution for the minimum error-rate (MER) receiver estimation. The solution is a good approximation to the the true MER receiver upon fulfillment of a certain, easily checkable, channel-related condition. The performance gain compared to that MMSE is evaluated for various correlated and Rician channels and transmit power allocation strategies.
