Abstract :
In a previous paper, a search procedure was described to design a family of FCC compliant digital impulse- radio UWB pulses, of which any one could be used as the basic pulse shape for an UWB impulse radio. The transmitted waveforms took into account source whitening, DAC reproduction (clock) rates, filtering, and various antennas so as to optimize the radiated waveform to approximate the FCC mask as closely as possible without violating the constraints. Here, further results of the search are presented for constrained maximally efficient waveforms. Efficiency exceeding 40% is possible with only 11 samples for a particular transmit antenna.
