Abstract
The use of an image sequencer and an image-processing card in algorithm testing is discussed. The use of critical test signals for human vision in algorithm design is described. The basic approach for image sequence processing is to consider both still images and moving objects separately and test both cases in the sequencer. For still images this is necessary when the scan format is being changed. In both cases the result of processing one field or frame is first studied and then the frames are shown in sequence to see the overall performance. As an example, development of algorithms for scan rate conversion is presented.<>
