Abstract :
The results are presented of an investigation of the characteristics and various philosophies of computer-aided engineering, computer-aided design/drafting, and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE/CAD/CAM) systems and the associated networking environment. The study is an initial attempt to meet an increase in the productivity of the engineering/design/drafting/assembly operation to reduce future/current operating costs through the utilization of a design automation environment. Some network concepts and a drawing management system are also discussed.<>
