  • Abstract
    The characteristics of partial discharge (PD) signals under opposite polarity are used to judge the possible patterns of PD. However it is difficult to get the polarity information for on-line monitoring system due to noises. The relationship between PD type and polarity characteristics is discussed. Acoustic emission (AE) signals under AC outer voltage are collected and analyzed. The PD pattern recognition by the polarity characteristics is carried out based on wavelet packet (WP). Internal discharge, end-winding discharge and slot discharge in generators are simulated in lab. Obtained results show that the method can get the polarity information of attenuating and oscillating signals, which is proved to be feasible in PD pattern recognition
