Abstract :
This study describes a high corrosion resistance technology for the positive electrode of lead acid battery that becomes possible by replacing a lead alloy grid by a SnO2 coated Ti collector. Experimental batteries with a Ti/SnO2 collector were subjected to accelerated float life test at 65 degree C and cycle life test at 25 degree C. The floating life at 65 degree C was more than 20 months, which means about 10 years at 40 degree C. The cycle life was more than 7,000 cycles when fully discharged every cycle.
