Abstract
The composite of polyethylene filled with carborundum powder shows the field dependent conductivity properties. During the compression moulding of the composite, a DC voltage, so called electrical pre-stress, is applied between especially designed electrodes in the mould. The field dependent conductivities of composites made with and without electrical pre-stress were compared though experiment. The results of experiment show that the function of the electrical pre-stress is same as to increase the filling content of the filler. And the possible mechanism of electrical pre-stress is discussed
