  • Abstract
    Four selected organics: benzene >; toluene -. ethyl acetate and acetone are used in the study which choose coconut carbon as adsorbent. Dynamic adsorption was used to measure the adsorption of the four organics´ mix gas. Meanwhile, the study utilizes the extended Langmuir equation combined with the results of experiment which did by others to predict the result of the adsorption. The result of the study reveals that the adsorbabilities of the VOCs are different on AC. The adsorbability is amplified as the polarity and the boiling point of the VOCs amplifies. Otherwise the component whose adsorbability on AC is strong can replace the other component in the mix gas. This is just why the breakthrough curve of the component whose adsorbability on AC is weak has a peak. Compare the predict result of extended Langmuir equation with the result of the experimental we find that the prediction has a deviation with the experiment.
