Abstract :
A low-profile center-fed circular via-loaded patch antenna coupled with a via-loaded ring both is presented. The antenna operates in four resonant modes. A wide band is then obtained by coupling the four resonant modes. With a profile of 1.5 mm, the antenna has a 10-dB return loss band from 4.91 GHz to 6.7 GHz. It can generate an omnidirectional pattern within the impedance band. Simulation results show that the antenna achieves a bandwidth of 30.9% for a profile of 0.03 wavelengths with a monopole like radiation pattern.
