Abstract
A method of designing controllers is presented for a linear system whose parameters vary slowly over a wide range. The design of a single robust controller for such a system is always beset with the problem of high gains. To avoid this difficulty, the region of perturbation is divided into a number of segments and then a feedback controller is designed for each segment separately. An expert system that consists of an online system identifier and a rule-based switching scheme is utilized to control the system.<>
