Abstract :
We consider the problem of communicating through a time-varying channel whose parameters (gains, impulse response coefficients) are unknown, but have known statistics. A generalized likelihood detector and a minimum mean squared error detector are derived for this signal model. Methods for estimating the channel covariance matrix are discussed.
