Abstract
Poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) grafted (p-nitrophenyl) azo was synthesized with diazo salt(p-nitrobenzene azo) by post-azo-coupling reaction with sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate as phase transfer catalyst. The molar mass proportion of Poly(N-vinylcarbazole) and diazo salt was 1:4. The reation was carried in acidic solution in batches at room temperature for hours. The product was characterized by IR, UV-vis, 1H-NMR, GPC and DSC. The IR, UV-vis and 1H-NMR results indicated that the diazo group had been grafted to carbazole group. The test of UV-vis manifested that the influence of coupling reaction time on diazo contents was great. It was confirmed by result of DSC that Tg of the coupled polymer was higher than the PVK´s. The data from GPC indicated that polymer´s molar weight was not declined.
