Abstract
The problem of designing optimum Laguerre networks for a class of discrete-time systems whose impulse responses are specified is discussed. The desired optimization is achieved by minimizing the mean-square error between the impulse response of the given discrete system and its Laguerre equivalent. The analytical approach introduced is a direct one in that it directly yields the optimum value of the Laguerre parameter. As such, this approach can be used much more effectively than existing methods to design Laguerre methods.<>
