Abstract :
An adaptive line driver is presented for twisted pair cables, designed in a standard 0.25 μm CMOS. This line driver can work with a 2.5 V power supply to deliver 2 Vp-p on line with 100 Ω impedance. It achieves -45 dB total harmonic distortion with 2 Vp-p. This line driver contains a new tuning scheme that is implemented without any passive elements, and also variable gain amplifiers have been used for quiescent current stability. It has a tuning range of 70-130 Ω with power consumption of about 5 mW at 100 Ω.
