Abstract :
A VGA field emission display with gated field emitters is simulated on a computer using a spreadsheet program. By using Fowler-Nordheim theory and statistical analysis, we studied how emission uniformity of field emitters affected field emission display performances, such as brightness variation, contrast ratio, gray scalability and lifetime. The calculated results show that the display performance is strongly dependent on the emission uniformity of the field emitters.
