Abstract
As reported in Rome at Intelec in 20071, it is possible to obtain "DC-grade" reliability (ie reliability comparable to DC systems) from UPS systems. This follow-on paper will show that a Dual Cord UPS can achieve the dual aims of "ultra-high" reliability and very high efficiency. There is a growing global groundswell to move to a DC powering option for data centers. This paper will illustrate that a DC option is not the only way forward and may not be the best way forward.
