Abstract :
The process of photon correlator used in the Photon Correlation Spectroscopy technique is described. Because of the restriction of hardware resource, linear correlator with limited channels cannot resolve the contradiction between time resolution and dynamic range. To overcome the shortcoming of linear correlator, the architecture of non-linear correlator is investigated. To implement such a construction as non-linear correlator, a variable-length shift register must be adopt. In this paper, a single input multiple output circle buffer is proposed to implement the variable-length shift register avoiding significant resource waste. So the delay time between every two channels can be randomly set. It is showed in an experiment that an extraordinary dynamic range with short sampling time is achieved by using the non-linear correlator.
