Abstract :
To be warfighting ready in the information era requires implementing concepts like “operationalising and professionalising the network” (OPTN). Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) needs skilled, trained network operators implementing the policies and procedures to keep information flowing and commanders knowledgeable on the status of their networks. Warfighters need to be guaranteed the ability to make timely and accurate decisions in peacetime, where dollars count, and in wartime, where lives and our national freedom count. Warfighters must also have the confidence that their warning and command information will reach their source in all forms of conflict. They´ll be able to protect a nation because they´ll be able to wage war in the information era. The value of information in the 21st Century has been likened to the value of petroleum in WW II-it´s an economically essential commodity that will define the dominant powers of the century
