  • Abstract
A crosspoint matrix 16×16 (+16) has been designed and realized in a 1.5-μm CMOS technology. The maximum bit rates of digital signals which can be switched by the VLSI are about 400 Mb/s in the best case and 160 Mb/s under worst-case conditions. The matrix chip contains all additional functions needed in system applications: for example, signal regeneration, supervision, and maintenance. All these functions of the VLSI, the applications of the chip, and its electrical characteristics are presented
